STRL Seminar, DMU, Leicester, UK on 19th September 2016

This talk serves three main purposes: (1) introducing the study with the aims and objects: the main aims of the research are to develop a theoretical framework and algorithms for raw sensor data separation and segmentations, semantic-based AR, and model learning methods, and to build, deploy and evaluate the system with real-time sensing capabilities to assess its feasibility and acceptance of the proposed approaches in real world; (2) reviewing state-of-the-art approaches in AR: the building blocks of the AAL system and key state-of-the-art approaches in HAR are presented by drawing attention to the main problems areas and challenges; (3) presenting progress made and outlining future plans: the progress made in the past year is highlighted by presenting two recent publications, their key contributions and a short demonstration of the system that is actively being enhanced.
